The Power of PhotographyFor our visual learners, photographs can be a powerful way to understand concepts and demonstrate understanding. Kids don't need a fancy camera to capture images of the world around them. You can even set it up as a scavenger hunt with specific items to photograph. For example, have students work on some math by looking for specific number of items (1-10) such as 1 car, two trees, three flowers, etc. If you use a digital camera, you can upload the photos to a site like Shutterfly and make a book. You don't have to order the book but your child can create captions or even a story to go along with the photographs. The apps shown on the right are also great for kids to create their own creation from the photographs!
What's a Garage Band? Here is what Apple has to say about their Garage Band app: "The moment you launch GarageBand, you can start making music. Create sounds like a DJ with just a few taps. Build beats in a variety of musical styles instantly. Play stunningly realistic Touch Instruments, guitar amps, and stompbox effects. Whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned pro, it’s easy to make music anytime, anywhere." If there is a music lover in your family and you have an iPad, iPhone, or Mac, you should definitely consider looking into this app.
